Here at tdg, we really like websites. And we really like the travel and tourism industry. No wonder we’re so excited when we get to combine those things. In fact, our team has been creating killer websites for tourism and hospitality clients since the 1990s (or, as our web developers refer to them, “the dark ages”).
So we’re pretty jazzed about the sites we make for tourism clients. Our clients get pretty jazzed, too. And every now and then, so do judges. Take, for instance, the fine people who organize the annual Illinois Governor’s Conference on Travel and Tourism. They honored the site we built for the Blackhawk Waterways Convention & Visitors Bureau with their best website award. Why? Design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting, and ease of use, to name a few criteria. The fact that the site was the first among Illinois DMOs to use responsive design technology for mobile devices didn’t hurt, either.
Not a bad little honor, considering the site was being judged against an impressive collection of sites from other visitor organizations in the state with the country’s third-largest tourism market.
